John MacLean's Letters Home CD
John came armed with 45 excellent photographs to choose from...a designer's dream come true. The title was the inspiration for using a font that looked handwritten, and a letter by John in his own handwriting provides the background for the inner panels. Through the miracle of technology, John and Leslie corresponded only by email, having never spoken on the phone or met in person.
Leslie is a consummate professional, intuitive artist, and marvelous person. She's a veteran CD graphic designer, so there were no glitches when her work for my CD was sent off to the manufacturer. But I knew I was in good hands way before that. She took the time to ask questions and even listened to some of my music before starting on her original design proposals, so the results were three really good choices. Her artistic refinements and attention to detail on the selected design were also impressive. Every step along the way was an improvement. On top of all that, it was simply a pleasure to work with someone who so clearly enjoys working with people. Really, she made the design process fun and rewarding from start to finish.
